If you're struggling with a personal matter or worried about anything - whether it relates to your study or not - knowing there's someone you can talk to can really help.
All current OUA students can access free and confidential* appointments with professionally qualified and experienced counsellors who are able to provide assistance with short-term solution focussed counselling which can help you with:
- stresses relating to student life
- dealing with study anxiety
- health and welfare issues that are affecting your studies
- managing work/study/life balance
The counsellors can also put you in touch with other health and wellbeing professionals in your local area.
* The OUA counselling service respects the privacy of all students and holds information obtained in the course of professional service in confidence, except where the law demands otherwise or where there are ethical or moral reasons not to do so.

What the counselling service doesn't cover
It's important to know that there are a few areas our counselling service won't be able to help you with. They include:
That's something your provider university tutor or coordinator can give you advice on.
You can find contact details for your tutor or coordinator in your provider university portal or learning management system (LMS).
If you'd like some advice on an essay you've written, you should try Smarthinking, the 24/7 online tutoring support service. Or, you can contact your provider university tutor or coordinator.
Administrative and technical help
If you'd like to get help with admin tasks like enrolling or planning your studies, or if you're not sure about something on our website, you should contact a Student Advisor.
